2) ¼ cup warm water (110° F/45° C)
HINT: To make lukewarm water mix 1 1/2 c cold water with 1/2 c boiling water.
3) 1 cup all-purpose flour
4) 1 cup white sugar
5) 1 cup milk
Sprinkle 1) with a pinch of sugar over 2) whisk, let stand 10 min.
Use a 2-quart glass bowl, whisk 3) & 4)
Slowly add 5) and yeast.
Pour into Ziploc bag, stand in bowl at room temp til bubbly.
This is Day 1 of the 10-day cycle.
Day 2: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 3: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 4: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 5: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 6: Add 1 c each flour, sugar, milk. Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 7: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 8: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 9: Let air out & squish the bag.
Day 10:
Pour bag into a glass bowl.
Add 1½ c each flour, sugar, milk.
Measure 1 cup mix into 1-gallon Ziploc bags.
Should make 4-7 portions.
Keep one of the bags for yourself and give the other bags to friends along with a link to the bread recipe here.
