1) 4 1/2 t active dry yeast
2) 1/4 c warm water (100-110 degrees)
3) 5 c flour
4) 1 T baking powder
5) 1 t baking soda
6) 2 1/2 T sugar
7) 1 t salt
8) 1 c cold butter, cut in small pieces
9) 1/4 c melted butter
10) 2 c buttermilk
Oven 450
Line baking sheets with parchment.
Dissolve 1) in 2) sit 5 - 10 mins.
Whisk 3) to 7)
Cut in 8) to half of flour in food processor or by hand till coarse meal with blueberry sized lumps.
Add to rest of flour, mix to combine.
Make a well, add yeast and 10) stir till dough forms.
Knead on floured surface till smooth and no longer sticky, 5 mins.
Roll out dough to 1/2 " thick, cut out 1 1/2 " rounds.
Set 1" apart on sheets.
Brush tops with 9)
Bake till lightly golden (do not let brown) 10 - 12 mins.
