1) 1 c milk
2) 3 earl grey teabags
3) 3 c flour
4) 1/2 c white sugar
5) 5 t baking powder
6) 1/2 t salt
7) 3/4 c butter
8) 1 egg
Oven 400
Line 2 baking sheets with parchment
Bring 1) to simmer, remove from heat and add 2) cover and steep 30 min.
Mix 3) to 6)
Cut in 7)
Whisk 8) into milk and add to flour
Add a bit more milk if it appears too dry.
Turn out onto lightly floured surface. knead briefly
Pat into a circle about 3/4 inch thick
Cut into 8 wedges
Bake 15 min till golden brown
💜 These scones don't taste like earl grey tea to me - the tea adds a wonderful rounded savory flavor which is hard to describe.
