Guinness Beef & Mushroom Stew - Slainte!
1) 1 lg onion or 2 med, rough chopped to 1 inch
2) 1 kg round steak, cubed 1 inch, coated in flour + extra 1/2 c flour
3) 2 doz large mushrooms, 1/4'd
4) 1 bottle or can Guinness
5) 5 - 6 potatoes cubed 1 inch
6) 2 T W sauce
7) 2 T better than bouillon beef
8) 2 T Montreal steak spice
9) 1 T salt
10) seasoning salt
Saute 1) in a bit of oil till soft.
Add 2) 8) & 9)
Get the beef changed from red to brown and add 4)
Stir and scrape up bits from bottom of pot.
Add about 3 cups water and rest of ingredients.
Add more water to cover.
Simmer 1.5 hours, stirring every few minutes to keep from sticking.
Adjust salt.
Serve with baking powder biscuits or crusty rolls & butter.
