Granny's Mustard
Granny's Mustard
1) 1/4 c dry mustard powder
2) 2 t brown sugar
3) 1 t salt
4) 1 t curry powder (add a bit more if you want a stronger curry flavor)
5) 1/4 t paprika
6) 1/2 t garlic powder
7) 1/4 c dill pickle juice
8) 1/4 c sweet pickle relish
9) 1/4 c water
10) 1/2 c cider vinegar
11) 1/4 c mustard seeds (I used 1/3 of each yellow, brown and red mustard seeds. The brown and red are hotter than the yellow so just adjust the quantity of each to suit your taste)
Mix 1) to 6) in a microwaveable bowl.
Mix 7) to 10) in another bowl
Grind 11) add to dry, then add wet ingredients and whisk
Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes depending on power of microwave
Puree with stick blender for about a minute till smooth.
Place in glass jar, cool uncovered.
Cover and refrigerate
This mustard will keep for several months.
Use only a clean utensil to dig mustard out of container.
💜 On my first try of this recipe I was told it tasted like their Granny's Old-World European mustard! The best compliment! Just remember to adjust the ratio of mustard seeds, lean towards more yellow than red or brown if you like a milder flavor.
